USDA is reviewing release times for several major statistical reports due to recent changes in market hours by major commodity exchanges. The National Agricultural Statistics Service and the World Agricultural Outlook Board – the USDA entities responsible for the reports – are seeking public comment on the release times and procedures of their key statistical reports.
AAI has submitted comments in support of releasing these reports prior to open cry trading at 6:30 a.m. in order to decrease the potential for high volatility in the markets. This release time would allow ample time for market participants to digest and analyze the data in order to make rational decisions and would not put farmers or commercial elevator investors at an information and timing disadvantage.
The deadline to submit comments is Monday, July 9. We encourage all AAI members to fill out the online comment form in support of releasing reports prior to open cry trading at 6:30 a.m.
