Joel Brinkmeyer to Lead Agribusiness Association of Iowa

The Board of Directors of the Agribusiness Association of Iowa  announced today the appointment of Joel Brinkmeyer as their new Chief Executive Officer. Brinkmeyer, whose entire career has been dedicated to working in Iowa agriculture, most recently served as Senior Vice President, Agribusiness, Great Western Bank, West Des Moines, Iowa. He will begin his duties with AAI on May 15.

“Joel Brinkmeyer brings a wealth of experience in all facets of agribusiness including governmental advocacy/legislative policy, regulatory affairs, membership relations, association management and finance,” said Allyson Perry, AAI Board Chairman. “His leadership skills, diverse agricultural experience and in-depth knowledge of Iowa agriculture positions AAI for continued success. We are truly excited to have such an agribusiness professional leading our organization.”

Brinkmeyer, a native of Radcliffe, Iowa, is a graduate of Iowa State University with a major in Animal Science and minor in Ag Business. He has served in various administrative positions with Production Credit Association, Farm Credit Service of the Midlands and Farm Credit Services of America. His career also includes 20 years as Executive Vice President of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Executive Director of the Iowa Beef Industry Council, and Executive Vice President of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation.  During the last seven years, Brinkmeyer financed Iowa agribusinesses, many of which are AAI members.

Brinkmeyer’s service to Iowa agriculture includes Vice President and Founding Board member of the Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers; College of Agriculture Dean’s Advisory Committee at Iowa State; and Iowa FFA Foundation Board of Directors, among many other volunteer positions and services. He has been recognized with service and industry awards, and is a well-known speaker at various agriculture conferences and events. His commitment to community encompasses volunteer leadership, youth mentoring activities, and a service trip to Tanzania, Africa.
