Showcasing Environmental Technologies of the Here and Now at the 2016 Showcase & Conference

The Iowa Nutrient Research & Education Council (INREC) hosted the Environmental Technology Forums at the 2016 Showcase & Conference held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Wednesday, February 10. Sixteen exhibiting companies participated in the forums. “These forums were a great way to showcase a cross section of the environmental technologies that is available to attendees during the Agribusiness Showcase & Conference,” stated Shawn Richmond, AAI Environmental Technology Director and INREC programs contact.

These forums highlight environmental efforts of exhibitors, providing a unique chance to advance understanding of the role that new technologies and science are playing to enhance environmental stewardship within agriculture. INREC hoped to highlight the broad cross-section of agricultural and food production technologies that assist with reducing nutrient losses from agricultural lands.

“We continue to see exciting new technologies that help farmers prevent erosion, limit nutrient loss and protect water quality.  The newly introduced Environmental Technology Forum at the 2016 AAI Showcase & Conference provided another outlet for folks to see and understand the role technology and science play in enhancing environmental stewardship.  Each year the AAI Showcase and Conference brings together a wide variety of exhibitors to display equipment, products and services that allow farmers to continue to reduce their environmental impact.  We need new technologies and innovative solutions, like those highlighted at the Showcase, to achieve the goals for water quality that we all share,” states Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey.

INREC raffled 4 iPads and a DMACC Drone Course during on Wednesday, February 10. The showcase planning committee wants to thank INREC for their contribution to our 2016 showcase programming.
