Collective Voice
We represent the voice of Iowa women and men in community businesses across the state who join together in grassroots member committees. This critical cross-section takes on the key issues and sets the agenda for the work of growing Iowa’s future.
The result of that work – Iowa’s government officials know they can count on AAI member expertise, assistance, and insights on policy and business. AAI volunteers, leaders, and staff work year-round with Governor Reynolds, Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, and officials at all state and federal levels to advocate for and create a more prosperous Iowa.
Each year, AAI is at work in Des Moines, and at the national level, protecting the best interest of the industry. Some of the recent member topics we work on at the Statehouse include:
- Water quality issues
- General Air permits for grain facilities
- National Association collaboration on BSE and feed issues
- Support efforts to grow the biotech industry
- Anti-Meth task force & issues
- Commercial and livestock nutrient management issues
Iowa Legislative Reception
In addition to lobbying efforts, AAI also holds a Legislative reception each January and supports the ag leaders program.
